Brody's Surgery

Brody excited to head to the hospital (he didn't know what was about to hit him)

Surgery went well and after an hour of screaming in the recovery room he finally succeeded at ripping out his IV. My only job was to keep him from ripping it out. Yes, he has manlike strength. Once that was taken care of he was cool and enjoyed some tasty treats.

Dad got there in time for the fun part. This is Brody's new toy that he got from the hospital.

After bouncing around and jabbering for the whole day it was time to settle down.

Sorry Brody. Party's over since dad is here.

And he finally conked out around 10:00 PM. He was really like the energizer bunny yesterday.

Brody enjoyed the fantastic food at Children's Hospital. Bring on breakfast!!

No big deal. Bouncing around as always.

Shayne had to tell him he was going to ride in this like Lightning McQueen. That's the end of Brody's hospital adventure. Now the adventure at home begins. He has been sleeping for 2 hours now. Poor guy has to be exhausted. We will follow up with his Dr in a month to see if his hearing has improved.

It Won't Be Like This for Long

It may seem cliche to post pop-country on our blog, but sometimes a song can connect with our hearts and souls as this one by Darius Rucker did for me. You'll never find country music on my car radio presets, so I have to thank Tiffy for sharing this tune me, otherwise we I would have never had the opportunity to appreciate this song.

He didnt have to wake up
He'd been up all nite
Lay'n there in bed listen'n
To his new born baby cry
He makes a pot of coffee
He splashes water on his face
His wife gives him a kiss and says
It gonna be OK

It wont be like this for long
One day soon we'll look back laugh'n
At the week we brought her home
This phase is gonna fly by
So baby just hold on
It wont be like this for long

Four years later bout four thirty
She's crawling in there bed
And when he drops her off at preschool
She's clinging to his leg
The teacher peels her off of him
He says what can I do
She says now dont you worry
This will only last a week or two

It wont be like this for long
One day soon we'll drop her off
And she wont even know your gone
This phase is gonna fly by
If you can just hold on
It wont be like this for long

One day soon she'll be a teenager
And at times you'll think she hates him
Then he'll walk her down the isle
And he'll raise her vale
But right now she up and cry'n
And the truth is that he dont mind
As he kisses her good night
And she says her prayers
He lays down there beside her
Till her eyes are finally closed
And just watch'n her it breaks his heart
Cause he already knows
It wont be like this for long
One day soon that little girl is gonna be
All grown up and gone
Yeah this phase is gonna fly by
He's try'n to hold on
It wont be like this for long
It wont be like this for long

Me? Shameless?

So Shayne harassed me that I was shameless, plugging my Ebay store on Siena's blog. I say, if you can't plug your business on your own kid's blog, where can you? Now.... if I were really shameless I would have said....

For all of your spring sporting equipment needs you should check out www.bbsportsbonanza.com

Do you know someone getting married? For all of your white dove release needs, visit www.boydsnestdoves.com

Sorry, I had to do it... Shayne left me no choice :-)

3 Month Check-Up

Siena weighed in today at 7 lbs 5 oz! 5 lb gain since birth.

The Dr said that she looks great. She is putting on an ounce a day which is really good. She was really impressed that Siena is sleeping through the night. We put her to bed around midnight and wake her at 6 for her reflux meds and to eat. Dr said that we do not have to wake her, that we can just let her sleep since she is growing so well :-) Momma likes the sound of that. Dr said that I can also start taking her to the store if I have to as long as I don't let people get in her face. I guess I can't play the new sleep deprived mom card anymore. This means back to grocery shopping and making dinner and back to getting dressed before noon. * Side note * Last week I ordered a pizza to be delivered for the first time in my life. It was fabulous. Ordered it and BAM it was at our house 20 minutes later. Did I mention how fabulous it was?

Yesterday afternoon while playing with little miss I believe I saw her first real smile. It came and went so fast... but I am pretty sure I saw it. I will have the camera with me at all times in case it makes an appearance again. Stay tuned.

Used up all of my pics yesterday. I'll have to take more to add.

If anyone is bored feel free to check out my Ebay store. I just recently decided on a store name. It has been around but nameless for several months. We have a heat press and make custom t-shirts, sweatshirts & even mousepads. The mousepads make great gifts. Just plop a family pic on it and there you go, happy mother's day Grandma! Just saying.

More Pics- 3 Months old today!

On her wedge, not quite ready to go to sleep.

You can kind of see her little mohawk that she is working on.

Dressed for a fun day in the sun.

Siena can now officially sit with us while we eat dinner.

She is not much of a conversationalist but she makes up for it in looks.

Bray likes to cuddle every chance that he gets.

She seems to enjoy cuddling with him too.

Over the 7 pound mark! Very exciting!

All Good

Siena's procedure on her eye went very well. Her eyes look significantly better already. She handled it like a champ. For those who asked, it was outpatient and went much faster than I was expecting.

She is up to 7 lbs 3 oz! It doesn't show up really well in photos but all of her hair kind of forms a little mini mohawk. I think she is going to have tiny curls like Bray had before his first haircut (those curls never came back like Shayne convinced me that they would).

Surgery for Siena

Siena's eyes are not clearing up with the oral antibiotics so our Dr scheduled Siena to go to Children's Hospital tomorrow to get her eyes probed and her tear ducts cleared out. It is common for babies to have partially blocked tear ducts but it sounds like hers are blocked completely, not letting the infection clear up. A culture was taken of her eye gunk and it turns out that it is a form of strep. Hopefully with this minor surgery her eyes will clear up in no time. For anyone interested, here is basically what is going on with her...

Siena's 1st Easter

Siena is 12 weeks old today! She weighed in at the Dr's office yesterday at 6 lbs 14 oz (but that was with a diaper and t-shirt on so she may not be quite that big.

Last week we went to the Dr for her RSV shot and the Doc said that she had pink eye (we just thought her eyes were gunky). She was on eye drops for 5 days but they were not getting any better so we went back to the Dr yesterday. Dr took a culture of her gunk that will take 48 hours to process and put her on oral antibiotics. She said that a lot of babies have blocked tear ducts and when they have build up around the eye it is common for infections to form. Fingers crossed that the antibiotics help.

We had a fabulous Easter, complete with an egg hunt with all of the cousins in Delaware followed by Shayne's baptism & confirmation on Saturday night. Siena had her first meal out at Marie Scramblers on Easter morning.

Siena has been looking like she wants to smile, but hasn't quite mastered it yet. You know I will have pictures up when that does happen.

You can see that her eyes are red & puffy. Poor thing.

Uncle Matt watched all 3 kids while we were at Easter Vigil. I guess that merits a shout out on the blog ;-)

Grandma Pooh was excited that we were finally going to get to take Siena to Scrambler Marie's!

There was a very nice reception after mass. You would never know that this was close to midnight. This is Shayne's mom, dad & brother Justin, along with Monsignor Lane.

Monsignor came to the hospital before Siena was born and was one of her first visitors the next day. He baptized Shayne & will be baptizing Siena next month. He's kind of a VIP to us :-)

Happy Easter!

Siena is up to 6 lbs 8 oz! She is 11 weeks old today.

Yesterday I was sticking my tongue out at her and she was copying me. Bray was very confused when he saw this cause "Mom, it is mean to stick your tongue out at people." Busted. Siena is looking forward to her first family holiday. She gets to hang out for the fun but doesn't have to go to mass. Kids have all the fun. Uncle Matt will have kid duty while we are at mass on Saturday night, watching dad get baptized & confirmed. We should get home just in time for her midnight feeding :-)

I hope the Easter bunny leaves some peanut butter eggs for me to down when we get home from mass since it will officially be Easter and it's been a long 40 days without chocolate.

For those who just look at our pictures :-)

Happy to be in her newborn size outfit!

This is a size 0-3 months that she is laying on. Still a ways to go.

In Newborn Clothes!

Siena is now 6 lbs 4.5 oz! Today while I was taking her onesie off I was afraid that her head was going to pop off. Not sure how I got it on her, but it is definitely too small. She is still too little for 0-3 month clothes, but many of her preemie clothes are too small now. She is wearing a newborn (up to 8 lbs) outfit for the first time. Pictures hopefully to follow later today.
